Family Testimonials and Recommendations

“So much uncertainty rests upon your shoulders when you are told your child has special needs. Navigating through the process can be challenging and stressful often making it difficult to trust the person who your child is placed in the care of.  My mind was immediately put at ease during my initial IEP session with Ms.  Cullen for my son. I saw the compassion within her. When she spoke of his plan, it was more than just a case to her, it was a desire to create an atmosphere for success. For six years my son was guided by her skills. His growth expanded in every possible direction. She was instrumental in every step of the process providing endless opportunities. With adapting lessons to his level, my son was able to increase his potential while also teaching his peers important skills of kindness and compassion. Her open communication and ability to strive for the highest level of self improvement for your child will help put your mind at rest when your child is in her care. Your trust will grow as you see the changes in your child’s development in emotional and social health. Special needs goes beyond the child that it impacts. You become a family with special needs and Ms. Jenny Cullen becomes an extension of your family.”

"Jen Cullen was my child’s special education teacher for three years from 2006-2009. I was skeptical at first because she was pretty new to teaching.  My child had many behavioral problems and a poor attention span. Jen turned out to give my child the best care in her school years. I knew within a short period of time that she knew a lot about how to communicate with her, set boundaries for her and create an environment where she could learn. Jen gave me hope, stayed positive and made great strides in my child’s development. Many years later, I became a special education aide and worked for Jen. She amazed me on how hard she worked and how much she cared. It was then that I really understood how lucky I was to have had my child in her care. She really looked at each child and knew what they needed to be successful."

“ Ms. Cullen was my son's special education teacher for 4k during the 2020/21 school year. We started the year fully virtual, which added extra challenges but created an even closer relationship between myself & Jen. Ms. Cullen set the ground work for my sons continued growth by teaching him, & me, the best way to communicate in order for him to understand. When my son transitioned to in-person learning for 2nd semester, Jen created a separate space for my son to retreat too if he was overwhelmed in the group setting of his classroom. My son is now in 2nd grade and participating in all the activities of his classmates. Without Jen's care & support, my son would not be the thriving member of his class that he is."

“2009 my son Riley was entering kindergarten at SummitView Elementary School in Waukesha. We had already been enrolled with Waukesha school district pre-k services at Hawthorne. My son needed help. At first it was speech therapy and then we realized he needed more. Riley didn’t talk much but he could read and understand pictures so Ms. Cullen immediately started him on a picture schedule. So when he got to school he knew what was expected of him. She used every technique in the book plus others specifically for Riley. He tended to run in the hallway so Jenny loaded up a backpack with books and gave it to Riley to slow him down and he learned how to walk nicely in between classes. Ms. Cullen understood Riley’s love of Thomas the train and used that as motivation and reward for Riley. We wouldn’t have made it through elementary school without Ms. Cullen she set us up for success early on using fabulous techniques and some great insights for my son and we are forever grateful. ”
